Program Preparation

The proposal process is divided into two phases.

  • In Phase I the principal investigator (PI) will deal directly with the home institution's telescope allocation committee (TAC). Each TAC may have different requirements for a successful proposal. We will provide information that will help you build your proposal with realistic expectations.

  • In Phase II the PI will be submitting their targets to the HET if the TAC has granted them time. The HET is a queue scheduled telescope and thus all observations must be submitted in a way that is readable by our scheduler: htopx2. We will provide information so that the PI should not need to interact with the resident astronomers (RA) although the RAs are always ready to answer your questions. Please go through all of the provided steps to make sure that your targets are viable for the scheduler and the telescope.
